Operations & Marketing Assistant (Part-time 15-20 hours/wk)

 Ajna Dance Company is committed to training and providing work experience to those who seek to work to help build and grow a startup dance organization. As a Operations & Marketing Assistant, you will work directly with the Director, Minila Shah on day to day operations as well as marketing, strategy and new business development. Your will be directly contributing to the growth of the company.

This position includes but is not limited to the following areas: business operations and planning, customer service, social media, administration, prospecting, marketing and promotions.

Day to Day Operations & Admin

  • Update website on WordPress as required
  • Managing social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) with relevant content
  • Responding to email inquiries, managing bookings, class scheduling, coordinating performances
  • Assist with writing of email blasts, newsletters as well growing our subscription base
  • Customer service through phone calls, emails and social media


  • Assisting with marketing strategy & execution
  • Generate new business by proactively contacting dance studios, fitness companies, event management companies, schools, non-profits, etc. to offer new classes, choreography, workshops & performances
  • Coordinating/planning Ajna Dance events
  • Recruiting trained and talented dancers and instructors to join the team (post audition notices on appropriate web channels and plan an audition)
  • Help to coordinate and start new kids and adult classes in NYC (reaching out to prospective clients to get enough enrolment, securing studio space, hiring/managing instructor, etc)
  • Help coordinate video production for online videos/classes

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Excited to help build and grow a company focused on sharing authentic & artistic Indian dance with a broad audience
  • Experienced on social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)
  • Tech savvy & computer literate
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to take initiative, think outside the box and solve problems independently
  • Extremely organized and detail-oriented and are comfortable multi-tasking
  • Self-motivated and can manage multiple workflows and prioritize your own time
  • Knowledge of Adobe Products (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects) is a plus but not required
  • Dance experience an asset but not required
