Our Adult Drop In Classes will be running for the summer. Stay tuned for the schedule of classes. Drop ins offer a great way to try our classes before enrolling in our courses and Performance Intensives.

Ajna offers dance and movement classes for all levels. Whether you are an absolute beginner or a seasoned performer looking to learn a new style or develop your technique, we have something for you. Our classes focus on building and developing technique as well as learning and performing choreography.  All classes will exercise your body and mind and push you to develop as a dancer and performer.

Class

Description

Bollywood & Bhangra

Inspired by the high energy music from Indian films, our mixed level Bollywood & Bhangra class combines traditional Indian folk and classical dance with Bhangra and contemporary movement like hip hop, jazz, Latin and Belly dance. You will learn technique and choreography that incorporate rhythmic, full body movement. We carefully curate our music and playlist to keep you energized and engaged. Did we mention it’s really fun? Every class includes a Bhangra warm up and yoga postures and stretches to cool down.

Advanced Bollywood

Designed for dancers with experience looking for a more challenging class.  Routines are more technical, choreography more complex, including more intricate footwork and mudras (hand gestures). Class moves at a faster pace. Every class includes shorter warm up and yoga postures and stretches to cool down.

Classical Blend

Ajna Dance Company’s unique class that goes where mainstream Bollywood classes do not go. In this class you will develop technique, discipline, expression and grace of classical Indian dance (Bharatanatyam and Kathak) while exploring and incorporating these elements into semi-classical Bollywood choreography. We will be working on eye and head movements, complex footwork and mudras (hand gestures). The aim of the class to enjoy the freedom and joy of Bollywood while maintaining the integrity, beauty and structure of classical Indian dance. The class will begin with Yoga, followed by technique and conditioning, concluding with work on semi-classical choreography.
This class is prefect for dancers looking for a class with more depth and to improve technique or those who want to learn more about classical Indian dance. Some dance experience is suggested.
